Kiehl's Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate

Kiehl's Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate

When it comes to peels,  I am very particular about what I use on my face. The products have to be gentle and still powerful enough to get the work done. When I saw this new product from Kiehl's, I was curious. Unfortunately, they had run out of samples... So, I had to rely on the reviews available online and word of mouth. After much research and consideration, I gave in and bought this bottle worth INR 4700.

The salespeople at Kiehl's are very well informed and educated of the products they are selling...I just love the way they handle the clients. As a sales person myself, I understand the importance of KYC - Know Your Customer. You pick any segment - be it hotels or beauty or fashion or health or insurance...you have to Know who your customer is, and what they need. So after the initial qualification, I was sure I need this weapon to protect my skin.

What is Kiehl's Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate?
Kiehl's Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate is a peel with substantially sourced Quinoa Husk Extract. It is clinically demonstrated to help accelerate Surface Skin Cell Turnover to reveal fresher, newly radiant skin while evening Skin tone and refining the feel of rough texture over time.

I love the brand's philosophy to use more of natural and plant derivative products instead of the harsh hardcore chemical ones.

Where we stand on the packaging?
The Kiehl's Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate comes in a tinted green bottle with a cap and a dropper, which you have to replace the moment you open the bottle. I love the packaging. It looks pretty, and is hygienic. 5/5 points!!!

My skin type and issues:
If you have been following my blogs, you would know my skin type -  During Summers, my skin is normal with an oily T-Zone. But during winters, I have the driest of skin. These days, for some God knows what reason, I am having acne all over my chin and the right side of my face. This gives me a strong enough reason to take my skincare routine even more seriously. This explains the need of having Kiehl's Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate in my skincare routine.

My Experience:
The product has alcohol as an agent alongwith Quinoa. I did some reading and got to know that this miracle agent - Quinoa Seed Extract - is mainly used in products for its conditioning and moisturising properties and not for peeling! The main agent used for exfoliating should be AHA alongwith a mix of antioxidants, which is probably whats helping with the exfoliation.

It has a pale yellowish texture, which is easily absorbed by the skin. Doesn't leave a residue or stickiness on the face. But yeah, if you use extra then it will feel sticky. When applied to the skin (after face wash and toning), it gives a mild effect ...nothing like over the top.

I don't expect instant effects from any skincare products. But with this product, I did notice an instant lift and glow to my face...(I am talking about the very next morning).

Pros:
1. The product is mild and still very effective.
2.  Is it helping with the even tone? YES ... it is helping.
3. Being an exfoliant, it does not irritate the skin.
4. It is paraben free.
5. Dermatologist tested.
6. Hygienic and spill proof packaging.

Cons:
1. Quite expensive. I would think twice before repurchasing.
2. AHA causes Sunburn. You have to use sunscreen everyday to protect the skin.

My final take:
Overall, I am very impressed with the product as it is mild and still does the work. But for the same and/or lesser price, you can find good alternative products like - Glycolic acid peels. Of course, these peels are stronger as compared to Kiehl's Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate. If you want to go slow and take baby steps, go for Kiehl's Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate as it is well formulated and mild for the freshers. But if you are already into heavy stuff, then the market is open for you.

Whatever you do, DON'T FORGET TO USE SUNSCREEN!

XOXO
